stress & anxiety breath practice



​Breathing is one of the most natural things we do. From our first breath to our last, we spend our entire lives in a perpetual cycle of inhalations and exhalations. Yet few of us are taught how to breathe, why we breathe, or the ways in which the breath influences us emotionally, energetically, physically, and spiritually. The breath is a powerful tool that we can use to influence everything from our health to our happiness. 


I’m going to guide you through a Stress and Anxiety themed breath sequence that focuses on creating a feeling of balance and harmony and alleviating stress and anxiety through practices that promote the sattva and tamas gunas by using mild breathing methods and gentle breath holds. It also utilizes techniques that make the autonomic nervous system more resilient to stress induced responses so that when we face situations that would typically create stress, we can remain calm and centered. Breath practices can immediately improve how we feel and diminish stress and anxiety. While breathing exercises might not provide an immediate cure to chronic anxiety disorders, they can definitely help, especially when accompanied by the healing sound meditation of the handpan.
