YOGA WORKSHOP

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

Handstands are not only fun and great in boosting your mood by relieving stress and depression, they are also amazing in bringing out that childlike nature of bravery and courage that hides somewhere inside the adult versions of ourselves.  Handstands are an all-around, full body exercise. They strengthen the core muscles, along with the shoulders and hip flexors. They promote bone health as it is a weight bearing exercise, your arms, shoulders, wrists will become stronger and more stable with practice. Handstands, in being upside down, promote healthy blood circulation and they help to stretch the diaphragm which brings more blood flow into the lungs aiding in better overall breathing.

Workshop Content:

This workshop is a great introduction to starting your handstand practice. During the session we will first warm up our wrists and shoulders before then starting some strengthening exercises for the arms and the core to get us ready to do handstand drills and exercises. We will be working with partners - so bring your friends along or get ready to make a new friend at Yoga House!

By the end of the session, practitioners will have the basics for a handstand self-practice that can gradually be developed in regular group classes and at home with a proper understanding of alignment, warmups and exercises to continue improving.

Please note that this asana takes time to perfect and expectations should not be to get it all right after one workshop.  Handstands are simply a lifetime journey. This workshop aims to enable more confidence and courage to start this practice and keep it moving forward.

Who is this workshop for?

This workshop is for those who are able to kick up and are feeling relatively strong in their yoga practice but still find difficulty when it comes to handstands.
